GITAM Gets Award For Rooftop Solar Power Plant

Visakhapatnam: GITAM, deemed to be a university, has been honoured with a prestigious award by AP Solar Power Corporation Limited for its remarkable achievement in implementing a 1.9MW rooftop solar power plant at a single location.

The project, executed by SM Renergy, was recognised for its significant contribution to sustainable energy solutions and the reduction of carbon footprints.

Acknowledged at the SolarQuarter Meet 2024 in Vijayawada, the award highlights GITAM's commitment to environmental sustainability.

The 1.9MW rooftop solar installation stands as one of the largest in the region, playing a vital role in meeting the energy requirements of the university and medical college while also supplying clean energy to the local community, according to a media release.
